The normal session mode is "Assistance".

- No Assistance - This mode is for those that have used the activity a number of times and want to try and solve problems without any help.
- Assistance - In this mode, hints are given and serious mistakes are identified before moving to the next step.
- Tutorial - Tutorial mode is just like Assistance mode except all help windows are already open.
- Challenge - In this mode, problems are set up to be solved. The problems start simple and increase in difficulty.
Use the buttons below to walk through problems. If you are new to the checkerboard, doing the problems in order,
either starting with "2x3", or clicking the "Start" button above, would be best.

Background:
Multiplication checkerboards are used to multiply numbers from single digits to fairly large numbers with results that can be over 100,000,000.
Simulated bead bars are used to represent numbers generated during the process of solving the problem.
This simulated activity can be useful prior to using the physical materials.
